Tanika is an award-winning journalist, educator, and non-profit founder with a passion for women’s health. After her personal struggle with uterine fibroids, Mrs. Gray Valbrun’s passion for women’s health inspired her to start The White Dress Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting women with uterine fibroids, bringing awareness to the condition and its treatment options, raising funds, and empowering women to be their own best health advocate.

As the founder of The White Dress Project, Mrs. Gray Valbrun has successfully worked with doctors, health advocates, and state legislators to officially declare the month of July as Fibroids Awareness Month. Recognized as a thought leader and patient advocate for uterine health, she has also spoken at various events domestically and internationally.

In September 2017, Mrs. Gray Valbrun’s thought leadership led to a partnership between The White Dress Project and the Fibroid Treatment Clinic to raise awareness about fibroids in South Africa. While there, she connected directly with the people of South Africa through special events in Johannesburg and Cape Town and participated in multiple media interviews with both local and international news outlets.

Along with national health advocates, doctors, and Tony-award winning actress, Renee Elise Goldsberry, she hosted a screening of the Oprah Winfrey-produced and Emmy-nominated movie, “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.” The event highlighted the life of a medical icon, Henrietta Lacks, and brought the community together to amplify the importance of cervical cancer awareness.

Moreover, Mrs. Gray Valbrun works as a content producer for the Cable News Network (CNN), where she has been awarded three coveted Peabody Awards for her contributions in journalism. She works closely with CNN’s 1,000 media affiliates and manages multiple projects, including national and international newsgathering to serve all of CNN’s and cable news channel HLN’s platforms. Mrs. Gray Valbrun was a 2014 recipient of Georgia Trend’s and Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 40 under 40 Award.

She earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in mass communications, with a concentration in broadcast journalism, from Florida International University, as well as a Certification in Radio and Television from the University of Maryland.
